The Florida Keys

April, 2021
Duration: 6 days, 5 nights
Locations: Islamorada, FL & Key West, FL

We’ve only been home a few weeks but I already want to be back in the Keys!  Kirk & I were originally planning to travel to the Florida Keys in 2020 for our 5 year anniversary/babymoon, but then Covid happened and we weren’t comfortable going that far away during a pandemic while I was pregnant.  April 2021 turned out to be the perfect time to go!  It’s not hurricane season, not unbearably hot, and not nearly as crowded.

We arrived on a Sunday night/Monday morning (after multiple delayed, canceled, and changed flights due to storms in north Florida) and immediately fell in love with our resort (Cheeca Lodge and Spa) and our room (Beach Bungalow).  I texted my mom “we finally made it – we haven’t slept in 24 hours, they lost our bag, and we way overpaid for a rental car, but at least we have this view.”

First things first – coffee.  We hopped across the street to check out Cafe Moka where we had wonderful iced lattes and shared a quiche in their plant filled outdoor space.  We picked up some sunscreen (we don’t have our checked luggage) and some LaCroix to prepare for time in the sun then hit the beach!
